mom said when I was allowed to stay out alone.
come home early,
she said when I went on a date.
come home soon,
when I moved to my own apartment.
come home with him,
when I had a boyfriend.
come home for thanksgiving,
when I was engaged.
come home more often,
when I was married.
come home with the baby,
when we had one.
come home with the children,
when we had two and then three,
and mom and dad moved to Florida.
soon I was saying to my daughters,
come home before dark.
