MIFF 2004 DAY ONE

Photography by Clif Graves

At Railroad Square Cinema in Waterville Maine

Friends talk about past festivals while they wait in line to get this year's full festival passes.

All this happens under the watchful eye of Asoka, the slightly cardboard fill-in for the "missing in action" film goddess.

Well before the appointed time, the crowd, waiting for the opening ceremonies, fills the lobby and spills down the stairs at The Waterville Opera House

Filling the Opera House to just about capacity

Following greetings by various festival staff, City and state dignitaries, including Governor Baldacci, the first night's showings were underway.
